What is this project all about?
Looking at today's cosmetics a large fraction of products labeled as shea butter, only contain a small portion of it while mainly consisting of synthetic ingredients. We are different! We provide you with a 100% pure and untreated product. In the niche of natural cosmetics we noticed that a lot of the products available at the regular stores only contain very little real “nature”. The notion “natural cosmetic” is not a protected term (at least in Germany), but already a few natural ingredients are enough to give the product this labelling. So if you look closely at your beauty products at home you will most likely notice lots of chemical ingredients and obviously, this is neither good for you nor for your skin.
So what makes our shea butter different from the other ones you can buy? Quite simple, our balmyou.shea butter is unrefined and cold-pressed. This ensures that all healthy ingredients actually get the chance to reach your skin and can provide you with the power of Africa. The shea butter being available in Germany so far is refined, which means that good, natural ingredients are removed from the product and through the re-refining process chemical catalysts are added and at the end removed again. This reduces the nurturing and healing power of shea butter. We strictly avoid this from happening to balmyou.sheabutter and provide you with the very best skin care we can.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
With our balmyou.sheabutter we want to provide you with 100% pure, unrefined sheabutter in a stylish design. Our product is vegan, paraben-free and was, of course, not tested on animals. The nuts of the karite tree are collected in ecological wild harvesting and with fair wages we support the sustainable development of Fort Portal, the village where our shea butter comes from. We want to stop create less trash and developed a packaging out of recycled glass and paper as well as fast-growing natural resource bamboo, which does not only look stylish but also has many opportunities for reuse if it is empty.
Our product is for everyone wanting to feel the power of the African karite tree on their skin, being against animal testing and wanting a vegan product to experience a 100% pure and unrefined shea butter product. balmyou.sheabutter is especially nurturing for dry skin and gives your skin extra power not only during the cold winter months, but all year around.
Why would you support this project?
Why should you support us, a young small start-up from Mannheim?
We offer 100% pure and unrefined shea butter, while maintaining the
ecological wild harvest and secure sustainable working places in
Fort Portal, the origin of balmyou.sheabutter. With your funding,
you will enable us to promote continuous sustainable economic
Moreover, our product does not contribute to plastic waste pollution due we have decided to go for an ecological packaging made from recycled glas and fast growing bamboo.
But there is more! We are keen on creating the perfect product for you. balmyou.sheabutter has a wide range of applications. You can use it for dry skin spots, stressed skin, rough hands and even split lips become smooth and supple once more.
Its stylish packaging and the content make it also the perfect present for your loved ones.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
If the financing succeeds, we want to extend our trade relationships in Fort Portal enabling us to extend the karate tree population and to secure workplaces. This can be realized if we hit the funding threshold of 8,000€.
With 15,000€ we can extend marketing and sales in Germany, bring our shea butter into the local shops and make them available for everyone. We want to establish balmyou. as a strong brand for pure natural cosmetics in the German market. If the campaign is really successful we plan to start extending our product portfolio and also internationalize the brand.
Who are the people behind the project?
There are several heads behind this projects:
Paul, from Ulm, and Tuna, from Regensburg, having founded the company less than six months ago, are currently writing their dissertation in Mannheim. Paul is leading the operations in Germany, while Tuna is in California on a research semester, testing the potential of our shea butter in the states.
Infinity Mannheim, a student initative of the University of Mannheim, is supporting the founders with a team lead by Felix. They are supporting the founders not only with this crowdfunding campaign but also in marketing and design concerns e.g. of the packaging and website.
