We would like to organize a regular “intercultural session” with collective cooking sessions, games and sports and music jam sessions in Lüneburg appealing to both refugees and locals of all ages. everyBuddy is welcome and can partake in one of or all of these activities or even volunteer for buddy partnerships.
The refugee crisis has brought many problems with it. One of the problems we can address here in Germany is the mutual acceptance and integration of locals and refugees. The reduction of prejudices of both sides and a cultural exchange are also crucial to the success of the integration of these people into society. To achieve a better understanding of the situation and foster relationships we are trying to bring these people together by a regular meeting where all participants can cook, play games such as foosball or basketball, make music together and have a lot of fun.
To create the framework for these events we work together with the local elementary school, the Leuphana university, and other initiatives and organizations from all around Germany such as the Volxküche.
Our motivation for this project is being able to contribute to the current crisis and socially engage with the refugees. We also want to give everyBuddy the opportunity to do so as well and potentially create buddy Partnerships.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
everyBuddy is supposed to facilitate practical bilateral cultural exchange, reduce prejudices, establish relationships between locals and refugees of all ages ("buddy partnerships"), and foster everyone's autonomy.
Why would you support this project?
We are a young initiative with a different approach of the integration topic. Its very important to us, that we don't only confront the refugees with our own culture, instead we believe in bilateral exchange and learning from each other. Even though we get relieved in our costs by some donations in kind (location, instruments) we have further expenses to cover.
Your support is necessary for the realization of our ideas and to facilitate our start. So it will be possible in the future to stand by ourself and establish an autonomy.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
With your money you support a great local project to help locals and refugees to come together and learn from each other. We need your money to buy food for our cooking sessions. We need your money to organize transportation to make sure everybody can join us. We need your money to promote our project. And we need you!
Who are the people behind the project?
We are 17 young and motivated students from the Leuphana University Lüneburg. We`re a colourful bunch of passionate hobby chefs, guitar enthusiasts and drummers, and sports amateurs. Throughout our orientation week we got the great chance to think about common dilemmas in our society. Pretty soon we all agreed that we have to organize a project, not just for refugees, but WITH them together. That was the start of everyBuddy.
