What is this project all about?
The music of J.S. Bach has followed me throughout my musical life as a sort of leitmotif. I grew up listening to and playing his music in so many different and varied forms - both original versions and adaptations - that it was a natural next step to adapt some of Bach's most beautiful solo works for my instrument. Bach's music is often described as "universal", and has been transcribed, adapted and adopted by and for numerous different instruments and musical genres. However, this is the first time that Johann Sebastian Bach's music has been recorded on the hurdy gurdy!
This recording consists of my original transcriptions of J.S. Bach's cello Suites I and II (G Major and D minor), as well as his E Major violin Partita. The CD will be released on the Raumklang label in 2017.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?
The goal of this project is to edit, mix and release this cd! The recording phase has already been completed, but the next steps will now involve time and money - the best way to help is by pre-ordering one or more copies of the CD!
Why would you support this project?
This is the first time anyone has performed and recorded Johann Sebastian Bach's music on the hurdy gurdy!
This project represents the culmination of many years of hard work, adapting and transcribing this music for my instrument, thinking outside the box, while still trying not to completely re-invent the wheel (pun intended).
Playing this beautiful music on my instrument has long been my dream, which I would now to share with you.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
Recording a CD these days is expensive for the artist, who is usually expected to cover all of the costs. The recording phase of this album has already been completed, and was paid for out of my own pocket. However the last phases of editing, mastering, and producing the physical CD are even more expensive, and I cannot do this on my own!
It will cost over 8000 Euros for these final steps of editing, mastering, and manufacturing the actual CD. This is a huge amount for a single musician to cover alone, and thus your support is essential!
By pre-ordering your copy (or copies!), and offering any additional support, you are helping to fund the final stages of production, and get the CD sooner!
