Die Hamburger Band 8 to the Bar hat sich, seit ihrer Gründung 1985, zu einer Hamburger Institution entwickelt. In der Tradition der berühmten Hamburger Szene der frühen 70’er Jahre, die für neue handgemachte Musik stand, verbinden 8 to the Bar viele musikalische Stile zu ihrer ganz eigenen swingenden Mischung. Vorbilder waren und sind die Musiker dieser Zeit, wie Vince Weber und Abi Wallenstein, von denen gewissenhaft gelernt und ‚geborgt’ wurde, sowie natürlich die großen amerikanischen Helden.
