FOUNDATION OF A LOCAL BEER COMPANY
Berliner Berg was founded by four beer enthusiasts. Three Germans and the brewer Richard Hodges from the USA. Building on that set-up, it is our aim to combine German high quality brewing processes and traditions with the sparkling creativity of the US American Craft Beer movement. We want to create new types of beer as well as re-create old German classics such as the Berliner Weiße sourbeer.

What is this project all about?
We want to brew hand crafted beers where you can taste the quality of our ingredients. Over the last decades, beer turned more and more boring and industrialized. Something that we want to change - we want to re-activate old German styles like Berliner Weiße that are currently more popular in the US than in its hometown Berlin - and we want to try out new things influenced by seasonality and local ingredients.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
Our aim is to build a brewery in the backyard of an old industrial building in Berlin Neukölln - the new upcoming area. While we will have a small taproom in the front where we showcase our beer, this campaign is all about the brewery in the back, where we want to create and bottle our beers.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
If the project is successfully funded, we will invest all the money into the creation and construction of our brewery. A good brewery actually needs a lot of equipiment and parts: the brewery itself, the storage tanks, the bottling machine and much, much more!
Who are the people behind the project?
We are a group of four people and all have different backgrounds. Robin is our CEO and takes care of the business. He is fan of belgian beer and most recently worked in the digital industry. Richie is the brewmaster and the most important person in the team. He learned Craft Beer in his home country, the USA, in the 90s, came then to Germany and learned "beer" again in Weihenstephan and Doemens. Finn and Uli are both from the start-up world.
