Instituto Andalusí in Malaga is more than a language school. It is a place that connects people. Most of you know us since 2002, have learned Spanish with us. All of this could not have been possible without our teachers, they are the life of our school, they try their best so that you can feel part of the family. If possible, we ask you to buy a gift voucher or make a voluntary donation ,to help us reach our goal of 78.000€ so that we can stay open. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
In Instituto Andalusí you learned Spanish, you made a lot of friends, you enjoyed the culture and the spanish food. We welcomed a lot of you when you were young and you came back later, as adults. Others met the love of their life in our school, they got married and they had children, the future students of Instituto Andalusí! You learned how to make paella, a spanish tortilla and much more. In this moment we don’t know how to go on with our business, our sales have decreased of 90% since March 2020. We haven’t been having any kind of income for 11 month and, unfortunately, the help promised by the government hasn’t arrived yet. Our entire team is not working and is receiving unemployment benefit until the end of February 2021 but we don’t know if this money will be guaranteed after that date. Right when the high season was approaching during last March, we had to close the school due to the lockdown and cancel our courses, but now the money is finishing. When, on the 1st July 2020, we reopened the school, our big hope was to continue. However, our hope eroded when Spain was classified as risky zone and all the bookings from August until now have been cancelled. Nevertheless, we don’t want to give up on our welcoming and familiar school and we want to fight to keep it opened. While we are looking for a solution, we have been told about a crowdfunding and, after many nights sleepless, I (Rita) have decided to go on with this project. There is no other way to save the school and its existence and we can keep it opened only with your help.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
Our aim is to not give up on our dream: our school Andalusí. We really want to see you again, because other way it would be very sad. Our teachers want to keep teaching our beautiful language. Hopefully with your support we can go on with our business in 2021. Our teachers, tour guide, the host families (all of them miss you very much) and many more should not lose their jobs. You are the target group, all guests who have been with us in the last 19 years, your and our friends, regular guests and lovers of the Spanish language, all who know us or want to get to know us. Thank you for your support and understanding.
Why would you support this project?
Since last March (2020) our selling has decreased of 90% and, unfortunately, we haven’t received any help from the government. With your help we can go through this difficult moment and help our team, pay the rent of the school and all the expenses, hoping that the high season can start again from this summer 2021. We did everything we could to save on all the expenses, we’ve cancelled all the contracts we had with the rented apartments and asked for a loan from the bank in order to survive to this bad period. Nobody would have thought that this could have gone this far and that we had to live like this for all these months.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
With your donations and gift vouchers we will pay the fixed costs of the school, of the team, the rent and the loan from the bank. With your help, our aim is to keep the school opened and pay the estimated monthly costs of 13.000€, in order to arrive to the summer season 2021.
Who are the people behind the project?
The Instituto Andalusí team:
- Rita Fäh and her husband Miguel Alcoholado (him, the best paellero :))
- Nadia Poloni
- Elisa Bini, secretary
- Our teachers: Antonio, Encarni, Andy and many more
From all of us, thank you very much for your support.
