Mezzosoprano Sofia Pavone completed her studies with Hedwig Fassbender in Frankfurt. She attended masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Ramón Vargas, Helmut Deutsch, Axel Bauni and Magreet Honig. Ms. Pavone received scholarships from the Richard Wagner Society of Colone and the Frankfurt Bach Society. She won the 1st prize at the Concours International de Chant Lyrique de Canari (Corsica, 2018) as well as the 2nd prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (Austria, 2020).
 Sofia Pavone, an Italian and German native speaker, is also fluent in French and English.

Her vast repertoire for the concert podium includes works by composers from the Renaissance to contemporary music, with performances at (amongst others) Tonhalle Zürich, Casino Basel, Goethehaus Frankfurt, Laeiszhalle Hamburg and Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao. While still a student, she has been a guest of various Opera houses in Germany, i.e. the theatres of Münster, Aachen and Gießen. In 2013 she had the opportunity to debut at Frankfurt Opera as DIE NEUGIERIGE ALTE in Prokofjew’s The Gambler and impersonated the young Chinese WU in the German premiere of Peter Maxwell Davies´ Young Blood! in Gießen, where she returned in 2015 as PIEROTTO in Linda di Chamounix (G. Donizetti). On the stage of Frankfurt LAB she played ZITA in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.

From 2015 to 2017 Sofia Pavone has been a member of the young singers project OPERAVENIR at Theater Basel, where she held her Swiss debut with DRITTE DAME in Mozart’s Zauberflöte. Alongside leading roles in childrens’ Operas like The Devil with three golden hairs (GLÜCKSKIND) and Gold! (mezzosoprano solo and percussion), she has been given the opportunity to perfom on the main stage as LUCIENNE in Korngold’s Die tote Stadt (Simon Stone|Eric Nielsen), SELYSETTE in Paul Dukas´ Ariane et Barbe Bleue, MRS. ALEXANDER in Satyagraha by Philip Glass (Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui|Jonathan Stockhammer) and as the MEZZOSOPRANO in Melancholia, a production combining dance theatre and early music (Andrea Marcon|Sebastian Nübling), with performances at Muziekgebouw Amsterdam. As a freelancer, her last roles included ANTONIA (Tiefland, E. D’Albert), with which she held her French debut at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, ERSTE MAGD (Elektra, R.Strauss) in Basel, DRYADE (Ariadne auf Naxos, R. Strauss) in Gießen and ARIELLE in the world premiere of G. Battistelli’s 7 Minuti at Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy. In the last season her roles included SOLANGE (ossia ROLAND in a new rewritten version of Les Bavards, J. Offenbach) and HÄNSEL (Hänsel und Gretel, Humperdinck) at Stadttheater Gießen as well as ISEUT AUX BLANCHES MAINS/ALT 4 (Le vin herbé, Martin - production postponed because of Covid-19) at Theater Basel. In the current season she impersonates FATIMA (Zaira, Bellini) and BIANCA (The Rape of Lucretia, Britten) at Stadttheater Gießen as well as DRITTE DAME at Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin and DRITTE STIMME (Jakob Lenz, Rihm) at Stadttheater Klagenfurt.
