We are slō stories and designed Rappu, an eco-friendly camera wrap made in Berlin. Slō was brought to life as a space where we met up weekly to create analog photos and videos together to learn with and from each other about many different formats. We encourage ourselves to return to the slow and mindful craft of photography and with full attention to details, take our time before pressing the shutter. slō (phonetic transcription for slow) stands for the appreciation of time and for the single moment. With the launch of Rappu, our vision is to evolve slō into a conscious label where camera enthusiasts and photographers can equip themselves with knowledge and accessories and become more aware about the art of slow photography.
We created a wrap with an outstanding design and universal applicability - Rappu is usable for a wide variety of objects and suitable for everyday use through shape and weight. We combined minimal design aesthetics with a colorful pattern to create a high-quality product with a modern look.
For the outer fabric we use a leather-like, environmentally friendly textile. We are still in the the process of deciding on the right fabric but the pictures come close to the final material. A pleasant feel and a certain degree of firmness are a crucial part during this process.
The inner material is soft, smooth to the touch and luxurious in shine and is made from 100% Tencel. It is a heavy woven fabric with a visible structure. Tencel is derived from renewable wood sources in a sustainable closed loop process.
Our pattern for Rappu was designed by Illustrator Steffi Bauer and printed environmentally friendly in a European textile printing factory that carries the GOTS certificate.
Our design and business structure is based on our values:
transparency
We offer insights into our pricing, materials and manufacturing processes. This also means that we're open about materials or processes that still have weak points. At this point we haven't found 100% green replacements for certain parts that certify the quality and durability of our product. Instead of hiding them, we know this is a process and involve our community in improving our products.
fairness
We behave fairly towards the people who work for us, work with us or buy our products. This includes transparency on all levels, fair wages and respectful cooperation.
sustainability
We take responsibility: what, how and where we produce. We have a sustainable vision for our company and seek to minimize waste. It is our mission to use socially and ecologically compatible materials for our products that do not harm the environment, animals or people in any way. We also rely on the responsible use of resources: in the selection of fibers and materials, in the selected request for samples, avoidance and reuse of scrap and the use of environmentally friendly packaging material.
timelessness
In times of "fast fashion" and consumption, we are clearly positioning ourselves against the fast pace of the accessories industry and advocating for timeless, trend-independent design. We want to create long-lasting products that are decoupled from trends and that accompany buyers for as long as possible.
