Third Place ist ein Coming-Of-Age Film, welcher die Macht sozialer Geschlechterrollen in unserer Gesellschaft reflektiert.

KIM (18) ist kurz vor dem Durchbruch in die internationale Sprintelite. Sie galt schon immer als etwas anders. Doch als Gerüchte über das Ausbleiben ihrer Periode aufkommen, wird vermutet, dass sie intersexuell sein könnte. Kim muss den Test zur Verifikation ihres Geschlechts machen. Dabei gerät sie immer tiefer in eine Identitätskrise und wird zunehmend sozial isoliert. Ein Film über die Auswirkungen der tradierten Geschlechtertrennung in Mann und Frau auf Menschen wie Kim.
