Together it is our goal to contribute to a more circular fashion industry. We intend to do this by upcycling and re-selling pre-owned garments. Our future store in Leipzig will have its own sewing workshop, which we will use to create sustainable clothing as well as offer courses such as sewing-, pattern drawing- and silk screening workshops. This is how we hope to convey a more sustainable approach and handling of clothing.

Project description show hide

What is this project all about?

We make sure that old clothing is no longer treated like a disposable product, by collecting them and sorting them out. Pieces that are still in good shape will be resold as second-hand clothing, small holes will be fixed by us and the rest is used to create new garments.
With the help of our workshops we hope to share our repairing and sewing knowledge with the participants. Simultaneously it is to show how much work and effort goes into the production of a single clothing item.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

It’s our goal to contribute to a more sustainable fashion industry and fair production of clothing. By selling second-hand items next to our own designs, we hope to keep the prices lower, allowing younger people, students or young families to be able to purchase sustainable clothing at fair prices.

Our workshops are open to anyone, as we also plan to use them inclusively by reaching out to different age groups and social classes.

Why would you support this project?

Your donation will not only support a sustainable and social project, but also help us raise awareness for the production and purchasing of fair clothing.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

After hopefully successfully ending this campaign, your money will be used for the renovation and equipment/ machinery for our store, including the sewing workshop.

Who are the people behind the project?

We are Iris (23) and Lisa (23) and we are the founders of ‘War mal deins’.
We met each other during our fashion design studies in Arnhem, the Netherlands. During our program we realized how unsustainable the fashion industry is nowadays. Thus we started using only existing materials when designing. Out of curtains, duvet cover or tablecloths, we created coats, dresses or even pants. After our friends then started giving us their old clothing, the idea of founding ‘War mal deins’ came to our minds.
