HOLLYWOOD - the new album from Melody Found

Es ist ein unscheinbarer Junitag, in Hamburg scheint die Sonne von einem blauen, Schäfchenwolken betupften Himmel hinunter, als Sandra Dürkop und ich uns am Bahnhof Altona treffen. Früh ist es, Kaffee unvermeidbar und die Bahnfahrt 3 Stunden lang. Dann sind wir am Ziel: auf der wunderschönen, windumbrausten Nordseeinsel Sylt. Heimat bereits meiner Vorfahren – mein Ur-Ur-Großvater war einst Seemann – und auch wir kehren nun im Kapitänshaus Siewertsen ein.
Zwei Tage lang macht Sandra auf der Insel die Fotos für mein neues Album. Oder zumindest ist das der Plan. Und so geht es direkt mit Fotoausrüstung, im Kleidchen und mit Fönfrisur nach draußen. Auf dieser Insel herrschen jedoch ganz eigene Gesetze und Petrus lebt sich hier so richtig aus: auf einen Sonnenstrahl folgt Niesel, auf starken Wind ein paar Regentropfen, auf Starkregen folgt mittlerer Regen. Und das die ganze Zeit. Frisur? Das war einmal. Fotos im Morsumer Naturschutzgebiet? Stattdessen ein Sand-Orkan. Nordseestrand-Bilder? Dort schadet die aufgebrachte Salzluft nur der Kamera.
Und am zweiten Tag wird es noch schlimmer. Der Himmel ist so grau wie der Wasserkessel auf dem Herd – so viel heißen Tee kann ich gar nicht im Voraus trinken, um leicht bekleidet im Watt nicht zu erfrieren. Aber – was tut man nicht alles für ein neues Album? Und so geht es am Kliff entlang bis zur kleinen Brücke. Der Zug fährt in zwei Stunden, den müssen wir erwischen, es werden doch wohl noch ein paar Bilder möglich sein? Wir wagen es. Mit Regenschirm und der Euphorie einer Person, die nichts zu verlieren hat, außer trockenen Füßen, geht es ins Watt. Der Wind will mir den Schirm entreißen, das hat er sich wohl so gedacht – nicht mit mir! Klick, klick, klick – die letzten Fotos sind im Kasten. Zurück im Kapitänshaus werden die durchnässten Klamotten noch schnell in den Trockner geschmissen, jetzt können wir über unser Abenteuer lachen und fahren, nun wieder trocken, mit dem Zug zurück nach Hamburg. Und ratet mal, welches Bild es für den TITEL wohl geworden ist... : )

The origin of the cover
It’s a normal day in June, sun is shining from a blue sky, only interrupted by cotton wool clouds, when Sandra Dürkop and I meet at the trainstation Hamburg-Altona. It is early, coffee a must and the journey will take three hours. Then we meat our destination: the beautiful, windy island Sylt. Home from my ancestors – my great-great-grandfather was sailor – and also now we are welcome in the „Captain Siewertsens house“ (Kapitänshaus Siewertsen). Two days Sandra and I will be taking pictures for my new album. Well, that’s the plan at least. And so we walk outside with camera, in a pretty dress and with styled hair. But this island has it’s own laws and Saint Peter is running free: a glimpse of sun is followed by drizzle, strong wind is followed by rain and heavy rain is followed by medium rain. Non-stop. Hair styling? That’s past. Pictures in the conservation area Morsum? Nope, there’s a sand storm. Pictures at the northers sea? The outraged salty air will harm the camera. And the second day is even worse. The sky is grey- there aint enough tea to keep me from freezing in my little dress outside. But – what don’t you do for your new album? So we walk at the cliff until the small bridge. The train will leave in two hours time, please, some pictures must be possible! We try. With an umbrella and the euphoria of a person that can not loose more than her dry feet I walk into the mud flats. Wind is pulling on my umbrella, oh no, you will not get it! Click, click, click – the last pictures are taken. Back at the house we put our wet clothes into the dryer, we laugh about our adventure. Dry again we drive back to Hamburg. And now you can guess which picture made it onto the cover... : )
