Lucha Amada 3 - A Luta Continua benefit compilation
Support us in funding our new benefit compilation in favour of the Zapatistas and Jinwar, a feminist project in Rojava.
On the occasion of the 20th birthday of Lucha Amada we are putting together a very special benefit compilation, for this we need your support. This compilation is the third part of our Lucha Amada sampler series and is accordingly called "Lucha Amada 3 - A Luta Continua". We will donate half of the proceeds to the [email protected] in Chiapas, Mexico and half to JINWAR, a feminist project in the heart of Rojava in West Kurdistan/Northern Syria.

What is this project all about?
In 2021, Lucha Amada celebrates its 20th birthday! To mark this festive occasion, we are once again putting together a benefit compilation that brings together bands and songs we love. We will donate half of the proceeds to the [email protected] (Mexico) and half to JINWAR, a feminist project in the heart of Rojava (West Kurdistan/ North Syria).
We are happy to support feminist, internationalist struggles with this benefit compilation, examples that show us that another world is possible. We want to celebrate all of this with the sampler.
As with our previous compilations, it will be a colourful compilation with songs from 46 bands & artists, there will be unreleased songs alongside current hits and a few more surprises.
It will be available in three different formats: as a triple (3-disc) CD in the usual chic book format, as an insane 4-LP set and digitally as mp3s (bundle only) via Bandcamp.
The two phsyical versions (CD/LP) will, as always, have a fancy, colourful booklet with info about the bands and the political projects we want to support with the sampler!
Like "Lucha Amada - Musica Rebelde" and "Lucha Amada 2 - love music. Hate fascism", this third part is also released on the lovely little label JumpUp from Bremen.
The production of this insane project costs more than 14.000€, which we don't have as an uncommercial project - that's why we need you! So get your album in advance and help us to produce the whole thing.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
The aim is to get the costs for the production of the compilation together in advance. With the last samplers we always had to borrow money from dear friends to pre-finance them. Since this one is going to be even fatter, the costs are even higher this time. Crowdfunding makes sense, because if people order the sampler in advance and pay for it, it definitely makes it easier for us.
Why would you support this project?
If you also love cumbia, latin ska, mestizo, reggae, dub and fusion sounds and need new danceable sounds, and at the same time want to support the Zapatistas and the feminist revolution in Rojava, be sure to pre-order our compilation. There are also some little gifts for the people who want to donate a little more. The more money that comes in, the sooner the expenses are covered, so we can generate surpluses and donate.
So you make two things possible: you finance the production, you make sure that the compilation is not too expensive to sell and that donations come in faster.

Who are the people behind the project?
Lucha Amada has been around since 2001, when we started playing music as djs. We started with the Fiesta Lucha Amada in Cologne at the Station Bar, but soon we also played at many benefit parties and other venues. Our collective grew pretty quickly and we started organising concerts. Since some of the bands were quite unknown, there were often no follow-up gigs, so we also organised some tours (e.g. Obrint Pas, Cheb Balowski, O Jarbanzo Negro, Kultur Shock, Watcha Clan, Sagarroi, Go Lem System, Desechos).
From time to time we also organised film evenings and political lecture evenings in connection with our concerts.
From the beginning, the connection between political, life-affirming and danceable music and emancipatory struggles was important to us. For example, the Zapatista uprising in Chiapas (Mexico) in 1994 was very inspiring for the foundation of Lucha Amada.
We love to put out benefit compilations - through them we can support not only great bands but also remarkable political initiatives.
This one is our anniversary compilation, it comes out on the occasion of our 20th birthday. We still organise concerts, have fun at the Fiesta Lucha Amada and want to support emancipative struggles. "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution" already said Emma Goldman. We add: the struggle for a better world is still right and necessary. A Luta Continua.
