Sustainable self-sufficient sanctuary & conservation project

The project is about giving animals in need a home, planting many new trees, becoming self-sufficient (energy, water, food) and having some guest rooms to also let other people experience this special place.
The demand for healthy, sustainable alternatives for all areas of life is growing continuously and with the present climate debate probably also the preferences for holidays will change over time. I want the sanctuary to invite people to have an unforgettable time in nature, where relaxation plays a major role but where they can also experience and maybe learn new things. For one thing through positive examples on the farm (permaculture, low waste, vegan lifestyle, second hand and DIY, natural products, old household remedies etc.) and on the other hand through different workshops that might (also) be held in collaboration with experts.

One goal is to help animals in need (so called livestock / farm animals like chicken, pigs, cows, sheep, goats etc. as well as so called pets like dogs and cats). They can either be rescued from bad keeping, they can be brought to us by people who can't care for their animals any longer, they can be rescued from farms where the farm animals don't bring "a benefit" anymore, or we rescue them from the slaughterhouse.
In addition we want to plant many new trees and improve the quality of the soil. All of this contributes to the protection of the environment and therefor helps in combatting climate change. With a permaculture approach we also want to grow our own food.
Another goal is to create an oasis for guests where they can relax and do something good at the same time, because all income from the guest rooms will fund our animal sanctuary.

The project is worthy of support because it tackles several important topics simultaneously: For one thing we work for the environment and secondly animals in need are rescued, at the same time humans should get the opportunity to find a wonderful place for a break.
With planned workshops many of the ideas would spread further. Every project, no matter how small it may be, can make a difference! :)

If the project is successfully funded the money will contribute to the purchase of a suitable property and to prepare the property accordingly (fences for the animals, planting trees, preparing the land, working on the soil, maybe build / renovate the guest rooms).
125.000€ - are you that generous? Then we can start immediately and rescue animals straight away! You are amazing!

It is still too early to say where the sanctuary will be located. It depends on the support we get from the fundraiser for example and where we can find the most suitable property at lowest costs. I can imagine moving back to where I grew up (north of Hesse in Germany) but we will also have a look at places in South Europe where properties are more affordable.
