In Thessaloniki, Greece, many refugees and migrants have been put in an extremely precarious situation by the Corona-lockdown. People without documents are in danger of getting detained or deported to Turkey when they are found on the street, additionally most of the groups that are usually distributing food and basic supplies had to stop working. That means that many people spend these days hiding in abandoned houses or empty train carriages without access to food, being exposed to cold temperature and rain.
The kitchen in which volunteers are usually preparing meals to give out has been closed as well, so the only possibility to keep on working is to give out sandwiches to people on the street, that's what we've been doing the last days.
If you have a spare penny, we would be happy to get some support to cover the costs for sandwiches and waterbottles for the people that are amongst the most affected by Coronavirus. They need our solidarity now!
Thanks to everyone!
Our aim is to provide food to people living on the street.
...because food should not be under lockdown!
Your money will be spent on bread, cheese, vegetables, fruits and waterbottles.
We are a group of volunteers from different organisations working in Thessaloniki that came together trying to find a solution how to keep on working despite the Corona-measures taken by the Government.
