Wir sind Small Strides aus Düsseldorf, wir produzieren aktuell unser erstes Album und du kannst uns dabei unterstützen!
Aufbruch und Stillstand, Hoffnungen und Zukunftsängste – in ihrer Musik setzt sich die Indie-Rock-Band Small Strides mit genau diesen Themen auseinander. Dabei vereinen die vier Düsseldorfer Elemente aus Alternative Rock, Electro, Pop und Emo. Die stilistische Bandbreite von Death Cab for Cutie, die hymnische Zugänglichkeit der frühen Coldplay, sowie die Experimentierfreudigkeit Radioheads sind dabei wichtige Eckpfeiler ihres Sounds.

What is this project all about?
Unsere musikalische Reise erreicht ihr nächstes Ziel in Form unseres Debütalbums, welches 11 Tracks beinhalten wird und über einen Zeitraum von gut zwei Jahren entstanden ist. Wir starten hier auf StartNext dieses Crowdfunding, um die Produktionskosten für unser Album stemmen zu können.
ENG: What is this project about?
Our musical journey reaches it next destination: Our 11-track debut album, which was written over a period of approximately two years. We're starting this crowdfunding campaign on StartNext in oder to deal with the production costs of our album.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
Wir wollen unser Album genau nach unseren Vorstellungen veröffentlichen, physisch auf CD, LP und Tape verfügbar machen, und durch gezielte Promotion unsere Hörerschaft ausbauen.
Unsere Zielgruppe ist dabei neben unseren Fans und unserer Hörerschaft natürlich jeder Fan von Indie Rock und Alternative Rock mit viel Liebe zu Soundspielereien.
ENG: What are the goals and who is the target group?
We're striving to release our album strictly according to our ideas, to make it available on CD, LP and Tape, and to extend our audience via targeted promotion.
In addition to our fans and our main audience, our target group consists of every fan of indie and alternative rock with a lot of love for sound experiments.
Why would you support this project?
Ein Album zu produzieren ist generell immer ein großer finanzieller Aufwand. Gerade in Zeiten von Corona, in denen Haupteinnahmequellen wie Konzertgagen oder der Verkauf von Merchandise weitestgehend wegfallen, sind wir auf finanzielle Unterstützung angewiesen, um unsere Musik auch wirklich unter einem angemessenen Qualitätsstandard und unseren eigenen Ansprüchen gerecht werdend veröffentlichen zu können.
ENG: Why should somebody support our project?
Generally speaking, producing an album is always a huge financial expense. Especially during the pandemic, a time without our main sources of income such as concert fees or the sale of merchandise, we're depending on financial support in order to be able to publish our music under an appropriate quality standard and in line with our own expectations.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
Die Kosten für unsere Albumproduktion äußern sich durch gigantische Rechnungen in den Bereichen Recording, Videoproduktion, Artworks, Promotion, Pressung, und vielen weiteren kleinen Teilbereichen. Jeder Euro aus dem Crowdfunding fließt direkt in einen dieser Bereiche und hilft uns direkt, das Album fertigzustellen und zu veröffentlichen.
ENG: What happens with the money after successful financing?
The costs for our album production consist of expenses in recording, video production, artworks, promotion, pressing, and many other small sub-areas. Every euro from our crowdfunding goes straight into one of these areas and directly helps us to finish and publish our album.
Who are the people behind the project?
Hinter Small Strides stecken vier junge Musiker, die neben ihren jeweiligen Tätigkeitsfeldern jede freie Minute an Zeit in das Bandprojekt investieren:
Leo (24, Vocals/Keys) ist Software-Enwickler und in Utrecht wohnhaft, kommt aber regelmäßig für Proben, Konzerte und Projekte nach Düsseldorf zurück.
Manuel (28, Gitarre/Vocals) ist Student am Institut für Musik und Medien in Düsseldorf und nebenbei als Gitarrenlehrer und Bandcoach tätig.
Malin (25, Drums) studiert Soziale Arbeit an der Hochschule Düsseldorf und arbeitet nebenbei an zwei Musikschulen als Schlagzeuglehrer.
Sven (23, Bass/Vocals) studiert ebenfalls an der Hochschule Düsseldorf Medientechnik, und forscht nebenberuflich im hochschuleigenen MIREVI-Lab.
ENG: Who's behind this project?
The persons behind Small Strides are four young musicians who - in addition to their jobs and studies - invest every free minute in this band project:
Leo (24, vocals / keys) is a software developer and lives in Utrecht, but regularly comes back to Düsseldorf for rehearsals, concerts and band-related projects.
Manuel (28, guitar / vocals) is a student at Institute for Music and Media in Düsseldorf and also works as a guitar teacher and band coach.
Malin (25, drums) is studying social work at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and also works as a drum teacher at two music schools.
Sven (23, bass / vocals) is also studying media technology at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, while simultaneously doing research as a part-time job in the university's own MIREVI lab.
