台北空間 Taipei Space

二十多年來，我一直進行一個介於西方與東方的藝術創作計畫 (*)。目前打算從2017到2018年夏天在台北經營一個名為「Taipei Space」的創作空間。這空間一方面作為藝術工作室，另一方面也當作一個對外開放，以及舉辦文化交流相關活動的地方。也希望這個空間可以當成來自世界各地對藝術相關有興趣的朋友的短暫棲身之處，給參與者有機會認識臺灣、研究在地文化與歷史、介紹自己的藝術創作等等。

For the 20th year of my artistic engagement in the cultural exchange between the ‚West’ and the ‚Far East’ (**), I am planning to create a space for artistic and intercultural work in Taipei for the duration of one year – a permanent base for my artistic work in Taiwan, a space for lectures, talks, and small exhibitions, likewise accomodation for up to one month for those who live in other parts of the world and who are interested in cultural exchange and getting to know Taiwan, for doing research on location, presenting their own works, etc..
Ideal location for Taipei Space is New Garden City, a montane estate in the south of Taipei... (cp. photos)

跨文化相會 Intercultural Encounter

臺灣是一個夾雜著東方與西方文化交流的有趣地方，因為臺灣本身匯集並融合了中國與日本的雙重文化，並且發展出自己的文化特色。更進一步地，許多臺灣人對於西方當代文化也相當感興趣。
兩三個世紀以前，很多福建和廣東人移民來臺灣。直到二戰之前，臺灣經歷了不同國家的殖民（葡萄牙、荷蘭與西班牙，還有日本。經歷過日本殖民時期的臺灣老一輩人家對於這一段歷史抱持著較正面的看法）。日本離開臺灣之後，輸了國共內戰的中國國民黨，帶著一百多萬中國各省的軍民來臺，並且在此宣布為中華民國。
從1960年代以來，越來越多臺灣年輕人到海外留學。歸國後將一些國外的經驗、想法、價值、觀念帶回。在這個基石中，1990年代歷經了民主的革新，臺灣的藝壇開始蓬勃的發展。重要的美術館、畫廊、藝術中心與協會，與各式各樣的國際藝術節、比賽和其他活動如雨後春筍般的蓬勃發展，成為臺灣當代藝壇的雛型。同時，臺灣也保有一個很積極、完整的傳統藝術生態，包含水墨畫、書法、音樂、戲劇、哲學等。故宮美術館正是這個保存傳統藝術的一個專業機構。同時當代的傳統藝壇也有自己的展覽空間、比賽、活動等等。
三間國立藝術大學（臺北兩間與臺南一間），和許多藝術與文化學系、藝術史系、哲學系等依舊鼓勵當代與傳統藝術的相關研究與發展。
二十年來（1997年到2018年之間），我在臺灣陸續參與藝術創作與策展展覽 （參考 www.andreaswalther.de/1997-2018/），今明兩年（2017、2018年）我將與台北歌德學院和德國在台協會合作，於台北當代美術館與台北101大樓的 101 Gallery，和臺北靜慮藝術空間，這三個地方舉辦我的藝術創作回顧展。
同時，我想組織一個可以讓藝術和文化交流的創作空間，希望可以跟藝術工作者與其他對於文化交流有興趣的朋友們一起生活，相互交流自己的的經驗，並進行研究問題，或探討更多發展的可能性。

Taiwan is a most interesting place for the cultural exchange with the Far East, since here history-wise cultural content from China and Japan converge and Taiwan yet has its very own cultural identity, furthermore since a substantial knowledge and interest on history and current development in Western cultures is alive here.
While in earlier centuries Chinese people from the southern Chinese provinces Fujian and Guangdong migrated to Taiwan, the island at the same time was under changing influence of different colonial powers until end of the second world war (the Japanese were the last ones and left Taiwan after the second world war and yet still remain in positive memento up to date). After the Japanese left, about a million Chinese men from all over China followed the Mainland Republican Party – who first ended the Chinese empire and then lost civil war against the maoists end of the 1940s – to Taiwan and proclaimed the Republic of China on Taiwan.
From the 1960s on, more and more young Taiwanese went abroad for studying and brought and still bring foreign ideas and values back home. On this base and after the adoption of democracy in the mid 1990s, a vibrant cultural scene emerged to date: besides of the main museums, there is an extensive scenery of galleries, also art centers and associations, various international festivals, competitions etc. all of which sum up and form the body of the contemporary art scene. In parallel, a vivid scene of traditional arts – such as ink painting, calligraphy, music, poetry, philosophy – exists and it is the National Palace Museum that hosts a countless works from the Chinese history of culture and arts and that operates and stages exhibitions completely in line with these traditional arts.
Two national universities of art in Taipei (and one more in Tainan) as well as numerous institutes for cultural and art studies, art history, philosophy etc. reflect and fuel the developments within the contemporary as well as within the traditional arts – the latter with a most interesting vivid relation towards the current social and cultural constellation.
After engaging in the process of art in Taiwan with several artistic and curatorial projects during the last 20 years (cp. www.andreaswalther.de/1997-2018/), now in the anniversary year 2017/2018 it is Goethe Institute Taipei and the German Institute (representation of Germany in Taiwan) in cooperation with Museum of Contempary Arts Taipei and 101 Gallery in Taipei 101, furthermore Jinglü Art Space who plan three retrospective exhibitions on my artistic works during those last 20 years. In parallel, I am intending to establish Taipei Space as a location for events, encounters, intercultural artistic work – a base for interacting with colleagues and all otheres, who are interested in the encounter of cultures, and keen to intensify and further develop what exists as approaches and insights and already now.

本計畫「Taipei Space」的運作有不同資金的挹注方式。在稍早之前的文化交流計劃，我有申請到公共補助（請也參考 www.andreaswalther.de/1997-2018/）。為了實現這個2017到2018年的創作空間營運計畫，首次嘗試了這個有意義的群眾募資方式，我認為這方式(鼓勵/挹注)會讓我與眾多對於文化交流有興趣的朋友，形成有效的交流網絡。為了感謝各位促成這個計劃的朋友，我安排了幾個不同的回饋方式以表達對於「Taipei Space」的感謝之意：支持者將可以獲得，包含：一本畫冊，一件原作作品，還可以參加一場在臺北、柏林、科隆、法蘭克福或吉森（德國）的藝術嚮導之旅。另外，還可以選擇在「Taipei Space」短暫住宿（特別想幫助在臺灣以外的支持者）。更多贊助相關細節，請參考右邊欄位。

While I realized earlier projects mostly with the help of public funding from Germany and Taiwan (cp. www.andreaswalther.de/1997-2018/), I believe that with the form of Crowdfunding, to have now chosen a very interesting form of form of project financing, allows to invite all who are interested in the topic and endeavour to join in already in an early phase of the project realization. For this very important aid and with the financial realization of the project, I have considered several different forms of gratitude that are introduced in the column to the right.

這個群眾募資「Taipei Space」計劃，將挹注一個寬敞的兩房一廳的房子（座落於臺北南方的一個山區住宅區-「花園新城」，請參考圖片）。客廳可以舉辦演講、對話或一天的展覽。一間客房可以提供為期一個月的駐村，另外一個小房間則是我可以使用到2018年夏天的創作空間。這個計畫總計10000 歐元，以提供一年大部分的租金。

Taipei Space will be located in a residential area in the mountains at the southern tip of Taipei and be situated in a spacious three-room location. The largest room will be used for events as mentioned – talks, lectures one day exhibitions –, one of the two smaller rooms will be available as guest room for stays up to one month, the other small room finally will serve as a space for my personal work on location until late summer 2018. With the scheduled sum of 10.500 € the biggest part of the rent for one year (excluding utilities) can be covered.
