What is this project all about?

It is about the realization of a traveling exhibition with photo series on four different phases of the climate movement in germany. It is a retrospective of the protests that successfully contributed to the coal exit and initiated social changes. Mass actions of civil disobedience, blockades in lignite mines by "Ende-Gelände", forest occupations in Hambacher Forst and Dannenröder-Wald. These demonstrations brought the climate crisis into the media. The exhibition shows photos of these protests on large panels stretched into a wooden frame:

1. "Ende-Gelände" protests against open-pit lignite mining 2015 - 2022.
2. Occupation and evacuation of Hambacher Forst 2018
3. Protest against the A 49 and occupation Dannenröder Forest 2020.
4. Destruction of the village of Lützerath in the Rhineland 2021 - 2023
.

The complete concept of the exhibition can be downloaded at this link.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

This photo exhibition is designed as a traveling exhibition that can be shown in a wide range of locations, such as cultural centers, galleries, or other exhibition spaces. It can be set up indoors and outdoors, and is also intended to be shown where these movements were created or at home.

I am in contact with different places and am happy to receive further requests. I prefer public, but protected places, with a walking audience.
Feel free to email me about this at: [email protected]

Why would you support this project?

It is a unique photographic review of these social movements and their history. I would also like the exhibition to be understood as a tribute to the engagement of the activists, who initiate social changes under difficult conditions and with high personal effort.

The exhibition is also a very personal concern for me, as I have followed these movements photographically since 2015 and this has been one of my main activities in recent years. I would be happy to summarize this work and present it to a broad public.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

The money goes into the realization of the traveling exhibition In material costs for the wooden frame, printing of the banners as well as transport and travel costs to the different locations. For assembly and disassembly and possibly necessary repairs money is surely also needed. If, against expectations, there is money left over, I will use it to realize future photo projects. I will inform you about it.

Who are the people behind the project?

It is a project from my freelance work as a photojournalist. Friends and family support me in the production of this project. Activists of the movements will be involved in the different topics.

Part of the financing is done by a publication grant of the VG Bild-Kunst.
You can find many of my pictures of the last years on my Flickr account.
