What is this project all about?
WITH LOVE FROM MADAGASCAR is a adventure documentary about two film-makers cycling through Madagascar for two months, investigating how the island vanishes and what it does to ones life. Madagascar is the most fascinating, unique and sensitive place in the world. And it is in alarming danger. How Madagascar goes, so goes the earth.
The filmmakers visit conservation and charity programs all over the island in order to find out, what we can do and what has been tried to do. Madagascar and it's environmental and economic issues is a mirror for our planet. The people are either very poor or very rich, fighting for survival and identity. The island has a beautiful, delicate and unique wildlife, so incredibly special, that it appears to be another planet. Some say, it is the cradle of life. Now, it becomes a coulisse for an epic journey deep into the essence of life.
Joy, pain, hunger, mosquito attacks, doubts, rain, heat, intelligent lemurs and fossas are just some of the dangers and wonders the filmmakers will face. Exposed to nature for two entire months on a nearly uncertain course through Madagascar, the adventurers push their limits. Together with them, you will find out more about the island, the power of hope and the journey ones soul makes on this mindblowing trip.
Klara Harden and Karsten Prühl will share their inner journey, their personal development, thoughts and anxieties on their mission on the dusty paths of the 6th continent.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?
This project is for everyone, who would love to make a change.
The aim of the documentary is to help organisations and projects in Madagascar by presenting them to the world within an emotional and exciting story. We all have a need for change. It is the chance for hope that keeps us on the surface. That lets us fight all odds and helps us not to give up. Madagascar is in danger, yet it is up to us to save this unique world. And with your help, we will take another step to make a change.
WITH LOVE FROM MADAGASCAR is going to be the first of many cinematic, intimate and emotional adventure documentaries, that explore environmental and social issues around the world.
Why would you support this project?
"WITH LOVE FROM MADAGASCAR is a proof to myself and others, that there still is a possibility for change. We are not helpless. We are not trapped. We have to do something against all the big problems of the world. Because we can!" --- Klara Harden
"Every single deed, from the tiniest to the biggest, has a ripple effect on the world. It effects us all, globally and at the end, personally. As human beings, blessed with the gift of intelligence and dignity, we have the duty to take care of the world, to fight social injustice and end destructive egoism. Life is precious, because its rare!" --- Karsten Prühl
We raise money to pay for production costs. We believe in this film and our idea of telling the story. To make the film great, we don't need much, but we need some basics. This is where you step in. With your support, we will be able to create the first of many adventures, that bring people closer to the world and the world closer to people. And you will be an active part of it.
If you support us with 250 Euro, we will put your message written on a DIN A4 into the film. As an element of a beautiful shot, you can send your message to the world, your friends, your beloved ones or even your foes. Further more, you'll get all adventure films we will ever do in our life for free and long before others get them, just because you are a co-founder of a great idea.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
We raise money to pay for production costs of the film - the first of many adventures, that bring people closer to the world.
- flights and travel costs
- vaccinations (as little as possible)
- VISA and approvals
- food, water, medication
- bikes, tools, survival kit
- video and sound equipment
- solar panels
- SD cards and external hard drives + protection
- PR / webdesign / organisation and continuing social media contact
- phone costs
Any amount raised over the target will go to good use making the film even better and with a higher quality. Our target is the bare minimum to get this movie into the public eye. More money beyond the target means more production value, more interviews, more organisations to visit and an increased ability to spread our message and stay in contact with you.
When the film is finished, we will put this film on the internet for free!
By backing WITH LOVE FROM MADAGASCAR you proof that you still believe in real adventures, the love for life and the dreams of your childhood.
Who are the people behind the project?
KLARA HARDEN is an Austrian cinematographer and photographer who has great interest in seeing different places and different people of this amazingly diverse world. In filming she found a way to share her experiences with others who are still startled about how all this can be made out of stardust. She wants to open her eyes wide for the new and different. Since her 25day solo hike through Iceland, an experinence she documented in MADE IN ICELAND, she has decided to become an adventurer and documentary film-maker and try to see and share as much of the world as possible.
KARSTEN PRÜHL is a director and cinematographer from Berlin/Germany. He studied philosophy, design and film, worked as assistent director in cinematic and tv film production. His diploma Film "Im Herbst kein Lied" has been awarded several times on national and international festivals. 2011 he partcipated in the Berlinale Talent Campus program and the Zurich Master Class. He has produced and directed more than 20 short-films, short documentaries and social spots. Over the years, he has travelled a lot on his own, backpacked through Canada, Southern Europe and Greece. While writing his second feature film script - a story about eco-warriors and eco terrorists - he discovered a way to combine his passions for storytelling, film and activism.

Hello supporters, we have finally restructured our project and our travel plans. Herewith, we are now on-line again in order to make this film come true. Still, the aim of our trip is a documentary that brings Madagascar and it's current issues closer to the viewer: YOU! We want to inspire the audience, and film is our medium. We'll supply everyone who wants to get involved with information about projects and organisations on Madagascar. To make sure our project is coming true, we are talking to sponsors, start cooperations and applie for film-funding in Styria/Austria. Due to this we can now continue our StartNext campaign with a corrected budget aim. That effects all current supporters, meaning that the arrival of their post-cards, Skype-chats and letters sticks to the plan. For all you future supporters: our development means new opportunity for becoming part of this project and receive a great "Thank you" for your support. Note: We've made it into media attention recently. Have a look at http://www.zeit.de/reisen/2012-03/crowdfunding-reise and join the discussion there or post a comment on our startnext blog.
