Andock - All-in-One docking station for your smartphone
What is this project all about?
"Computer, DVD player, hi-fi system or game console… if you have AnDock, you don’t need anything of it”
Laptops, DVD players or game consoles – most devices can be replaced by the processing power of one modern smartphone. Your phone’s abilities are without borders and you have your music, games, movies and documents with you at all time. However, the connection of all the necessary equipment is a problem as well as the most common consequences of the intense use of your phone such as overheating and flat batteries.
Andock finally offers a solution! Simply dock your phone and off you go. Your smartphone sends a signal to a monitor, TV screen or to a music system via HDMI. At the same time the docking station actively cools your phone and charges the battery for an unlimited use. You can easily connect additional devices such as a mouse, a keyboard or a controller when using Bluetooth. Furthermore, the integrated NFC tag quickly launches apps or changes settings. And if you are simply looking for a secure hold while surfing or watching movies AnDock provides you with the necessary stability in both horizontal and vertical format.
All applications are combined in the simple shape of a cube. The material is made of a special structure which feels good in your hands. Even the smallest details have been considered while designing this docking station. That is why AnDock is a gadget and designer furniture at the same time!
Advantages of AnDock:
- Easy connection to your monitor, TV screen or hi-fi system via HDMI
- Active cooling to prevent the usual CPU throttling
- Display in widescreen format. It is much better for the human eye as a screen in vertical format (common docking stations)
- Excellent material, which feels good in your hands
- Unbeatable price, despite the use of high quality laser sintering
- NFC-tag to start apps or games immediately
- Docking Station is weighted to provide more stability
- Unique design
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
The aim is to develop a world-class and unique docking station for the Nexus 4 to combine the functions of laptops, consoles or DVD players in one device. In the near future we aim to extend the production of high quality docking stations for other popular smartphone models as well.
The target group is all owners of the Google Nexus 4 - but also those who own a smartphone with MHL or SlimPort support.
Why would you support this project?
The project can only be realized with the appropriate seed capital and a guaranteed purchase volume. This is to secure further developments and to make larger investments possible. It would be nice if a small startup company from Germany would help to enrich the world around Android, smartphones & co with an innovative product. Our aim is to help customers around the world to get the most out of their smartphones. We try to keep the price customer friendly and as low as possible, despite the high costs in 3D printing. This is to produce affordable products which at the same time perfectly meet your and our requirements.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
The sum is used primarily to finance the production by reducing costs and purchasing the necessary goods in larger quantities. If you buy the components individually, production costs will be almost 200 € per station. Furthermore we need financial support to start a small business. The financing of the prototype has already required a huge budget.
We assume that the first docking stations will be shipped approximately 12 weeks after the successful financing. We will do our best to be even faster.
Who are the people behind the project?
David Hawig is an industrial engineer who combines his mechanical engineering skills with an interest in painting, design and art. His never-ending fascination in present technology has led to the development of AnDock. The process from the initial idea to the first prototype caused not only many sleepless nights and an empty wallet but also led to very single topic conversations. Without the support of friends and family the previous milestones in the development would not have been possible.
