CAVE ist eine moderne Interpretation des Höhlengleichnisses von Platon in filmischer Form. Der Film untersucht die Grundeigenheit der Menschen, ihr Weltbild aus dem ihnen Bekannten herzuleiten und dieses ungern zu ändern. In der Figurenentwicklung des Protagonisten Frode werden psychologische Phänomene wie PTBS, Schlafparalyse und kognitive Dissonanz zu entscheidenden Handlungsmotoren.
