10 concert tours to China over the last 10 years and my appointment as Cultural Ambassador of the province Gansu led to my strong connection with China, where, since my first tour in 2009, I'm called the "German Piano Princess" ;-)
With this CD I want to link the musical worlds of China and the Western world.
The pieces I chose for this CD are on the one hand piano works based on traditional Chinese folk songs. There are e.g. the famous melody "Silver Clouds Chasing the Moon", "Kangding Love Song" or the piano version of the ballet "The Mermaid". On the other hand I play pieces by Western composers, which are influenced by Chinese musical elements: Walter Niemann wrote his impressionistic suite "Alt-China", Cyril Scott "Lotus Land" and Abram Chasins composed the entertaining "3 Piano Pieces", containing the very impressive last piece "Rush Hour in Hong Kong".
My goal is to introduce this beautiful piano music, that unfortunately is quite unknown outside of China, to as many people as possible! It's music that invites you to dream. Music that creates images in your mind.
This project is for everyone who loves piano music, is a fan of Chinese culture or is interested in rarities of classical piano music.
A professional CD production is a great and expensive project, that is almost impossible to finance by one artist alone.
With your help we can bring this great project to life: by pre-ordering the CD or by choosing some of the other rewards.
The recording of the CD took place this fall in the prestigous studio b-sharp in Berlin, which was made possible by Funk-Stiftung.
The next step now is to produce and publish the CD!
I'm very lucky to work together with the recently voted "Label of the year" ARS Produktion.
The whole sum of the crowdfunding money will go into the production and distribution of the CD "Chinese Dreams". This includes production of the CDs, booklet texts, photos for cover and booklet, worldwide distribution, CD trailer, PR.
Important: There is no financial risk for you! If the funding goal won't be reached (what I really don't hope!!), you will be reimbursed by Startnext, or, depending on your method of payment, the money won't even be charged in the first place.
I’m Lydia and I’m a classical pianist.
Since my childhood and increased by my studies in three different European cities (Salzburg, Munich, Paris and Graz) and international concert tours, I'm fascinated by foreign cultures and languages. I combine this interest with my love for the lesser-known territories of the piano literature.
