Campaign for a legislative referendum on the socialisation of large real estate corporations

With our referendum, we are putting a specific law to the vote that will socialise the housing stocks of profit-oriented real estate companies with more than 3,000 flats in Berlin. The flats are to be transferred to an institution under public law and democratically administered. Socialisation is the best way to solve the rent crisis in Berlin - so now we will enforce socialisation ourselves.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
We want to permanently bring back affordable rents in Berlin. In socialised housing, rents would no longer serve to finance the profits of profit-hungry real estate corporations. Instead, only the costs actually incurred would have to be paid. If we are successful, rents for hundreds of thousands of flats in Berlin would no longer rise. Why would you support this project?

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
We will use the money to finance the first phase of the new referendum: Above all we need money to draft Germany's first socialisation law. For this we are working with scientists and experts in the field, especially with a law firm specializing in constitutional law. In addition to the draft law, we have costs for posters, flyers, stickers, videos, advertising, social media, room rent for events, our office and our website.
Who are the people behind the project?
The initiative "Deutsche Wohnen & Co. Enteignen" (Expropriate Deutsche Wohnen & Co.) is supported by many committed individuals, people from tenants' initiatives and urban policy groups. Almost 2,000 Berliners are now active in our 16 neighbourhood teams. Everyone can join and is welcome to push for the socialisation of the large real estate companies. You too can become part of the movement: https://www.dwenteignen.de/mitmachen/en/
