Euro Taiko Expo 2021

Held at the end of 2021 in Hamburg, the ETE21 is a presentation of European Taiko which involves an evening concert featuring European Taiko compositions from multiple groups, and a full day of exposition displaying the diversity of the European Taiko Scene.

Building on the legacy of the European Taiko Conferences, and picking up where the community left off in 2019, it’s time to showcase the voices of European Taiko and present them to the world!

The European Taiko Expo is a platform for taiko players to present and experience taiko the way they want it, with the opportunity for all members of the community to shape the event throughout the year. This event is to be built by the community, for the community – and will be as exciting as you want to make it!

The event consists of:

• Concert Night - an integrated performance start-to-finish: no announcer, just Taiko. A celebration of the individual European groups who are creating and composing original works and also a space for new collaborative works to be presented.
• Expo Day - the content of the expo day is divided into four main spaces and is based completely on submissions and suggestions from the European Taiko community throughout the year. Included is expo/display/promotion space, a community performance space, an on-drum workshop space, and an off-drum workshop space.

The 2021 European Taiko Expo is hosted by TAIKO BASTARDS as a not-for-profit event, with all proceeds going towards covering venue and equipment rental, promotion, and travel costs. As the first of its kind, the success of this event is dependent on community involvement, and trust from the community that the organisers are doing the best they can to keep the event accessible, affordable and also viable.

The goal of this campaign is to get a measure of how many people are interested in supporting the European Taiko Expo in 2021, so we can better plan the event (size, space etc.) and estimate our costs accordingly.

If we hit our stretch goal of 6000 EUR, we will be able to extend the event to TWO Expo days (Sat+Sun) and Concert Night

The ETE21 is for all taiko players and enthusiasts to learn about what is happening in the European Taiko community. All community members are encouraged to take part and share their voice.

Supporting this campaign shows that you are interested in seeing the ETE21 come alive this year.

By adding your voice, you allow us to develop our plans into a bigger and more exciting event, and to adjust our budget accordingly.

To show our thanks for your support at this stage of the project, in addition to the physical rewards, we will list your name on the ETE21 home page (if you want!).

ALL money raised through this campaign will go towards reimbursing the organisers for rental costs of the concert and expo location.

In the case we receive funding that exceeds the rental costs, money will go towards other features of the event such as infrastructure, event booklets for participants, live streaming and online accessibility, other community suggestions.

In the case the event is cancelled due to reasons outside of our control (e.g. COVID-19 regulations), money will not be returned to supporters. Any money not used for non-refundable deposits will be set aside for a rescheduled in-person ETE.

In the case we don't reach our 1000 EUR target, no rewards will be posted out and you will receive your money back.
