This year our Berlin cultural location Griessmuehle already had two massive setbacks: After we lost our business premises due to a lack of extension of the lease, we were now banned from operating any event to curb the corona pandemic. This affects not only us, but the entire industry to an unprecedented extent. Since our running costs can no longer be covered, we ask for your support.
After losing our own location, we were able to temporarily continue our cultural program at befriended locations before the corona pandemic brought us to our knees. In mid-March we had to shut down our operations all together from one day to the next, which is why we now have no way of covering our running costs. The survival of Griessmuehle and the jobs associated are now hanging on a thread. We are facing this situation with open eyes and have to admit that we will not be able to do it on our own. We are therefore dependent on immediate financial help.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
With this campaign, we want to cover running costs until the end of the crisis, because every single day of downtime incurs further expenses.
Sympathizers, friends and guests of Griessmuehle, please help us to get through these uncertain times together and help us with whatever big or small financial contribution you can.
Why would you support this project?
Griessmuehle has developed and grown continuously over the years and has always been financially independent. The realization of smaller- and larger-sized music and art projects of the subculture of Berlin was always in the core of our doing. To ensure that the cultural scene is preserved and can be continued at a new location in the future, quick and short-term support is now required. Every Euro counts now!
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
The raised funds are intended to compensate for the lack of income from event operations and to cover other ongoing costs for staff, rent and storage.
Who are the people behind the project?
For more than 15 years we have been a cultural melting pot that has constantly changed and grown. During this time, we created spaces for creative projects at various locations in Berlin and organized events on music and art. Most recently we operated the Griessmuehle in Berlin-Neukölln. Since our closure, we have been holding events at Alte Münze and at Polygon Club.
