Guts for Change - Hitching a Ride
We hitchhike from Germany to India to build toilets at a residential school for over 400 children. With the tour we draw attention to the santiation crisis and to the fact that in India alone, over 600 million people don't have access to a toilet. We want to make a film about our tour through Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Pakistan as well as about the toilet project. This campaign is to make the production of the film possible. For every Euro we receive we donate 50 Cents to the project.

What is this project all about?

With your help, we want to realize a film about our adventurous hitchhiking journey from Berlin to India and a sanitation project at an Indian school.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

The main aim of our campaign is to finance and realize the documentary about the hitchhiking journey and the sanitation project in India.

Also, we want to draw attention to the global sanitation crisis and the school toilet project that we are implementing at the Adhevasi Ashramshala Residential School together with our NGO partners and thereby, help to make the project happen, so that over 400 children will finally have access to toilets and designated sleeping areas.

Why would you support this project?
  • Because this project is about an interesting and entertaining film AND a social cause.
  • Because we give something back. We have cool rewards for supporting us and we give something back, supporting the children at the Adhevasi Ashramshala Residential School by helping them to get toilets
  • Because we have already realised a successful campaign on Startnext before and proven that we are worthy of the crowds trust.
  • Because we draw attention to an important challenge - the global santiation crisis.
  • Because we have Guts for Change and push ourselves out of our comfort zone to make things happen
  • Okay, last but not least, we are two loveable youngsters that are looking for your support. Thank you! ;).
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

The money will be used entirely for the post-production process of the film about the tour and the project in India.

Also, for every Euro that we receive for the post-production of the film, we will give 50 Cent from our own pocket into the toilet project at the Adhevasi Ashramshala Residential School.

Who are the people behind the project?

The people behind this project are Johann Angermann and Thomas Jakel from Guts for Change. In 2012 we cycled to India by bike, to raise funds for a toilet project in India. In colaboration with our partners, we were able to raise funds for 35 ecological toilets in the village of Darewadi.

With the help of the Startnext crowd, Johann was able to produce a film about the tour and the project ( as well as an internet series for ARTE future (

Our goal is to promote change makers and to inspire others to make a change by implementing social businesses and humanitarian projects.
