Held der Geschichte ist das Pferd Johnny. Nach vielen entbehrungsreichen Jahren in Sklaverei beschließt Johnny zu fliehen, bevor er getötet werden soll. Unterschlupf und ein neues Leben findet er in der klassenlosen Stadt Anytown. Doch sein ehemaliger Besitzer ist ihm dicht auf den Fersen und ein finales Aufeinandertreffen scheint unausweichlich.
