Saving lives with Maskini

The idea: if all people were to wear face masks in public, the spread of Covid-19 could be reduced.
Thanks to your overwhelming support of our pilot project last, we have been able to raise more than 140% of our funding goal. We have been able to make face masks for you, and donated at least the same amount of masks to people in need.

Governments in many parts of the world have introduced the mandatory use of face masks, or issued strong recommendations to do so. Since the need for face masks is still very high, we want to take the next step towards our three goals together with you:

• A face mask for you
• A face mask for people in need
• Save families from extreme poverty

While medical and surgical face masks are urgently needed in hospitals by doctors and other health workers, cotton face masks are sufficient for the general public in their everyday life. We want to produce cotton face masks and help reduce the spread of Covid-19: Each person that wears a face mask can protect lives.
One reason for the Corona pandemic is the unwitting transmission of the virus. Before first symptoms show, we are infectious to others, with some people remaining completely symptom free.
Until recently, we have produced the eco-friendly shopping bag, Tasini (single-use plastic alternative), and have been raising plastic pollution awareness in school projects. A specific focus of our work is in Indonesia, since the plastic pollution issue is very pressing in the region. However, at the moment there are more critical matters.
Every day we receive news from our colleagues in Indonesia on how severely the corona crisis is affecting their communities. People are losing their livelihoods and cannot afford to practice social distancing.
We want to help the local communities maintain their income, reduce the risk of infection in their families, and curb the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia.
As a thank you for your support, you will receive a Maskini face mask. For each mask that you get, one mask will be donated in Indonesia. Together we can reduce the spread of Covid-19.
The Maskini face mask is machine washable, and so that you always have one ready to use, you will receive at least 2 pcs for your contribution (see the “reward” section for different Thank you offers). Please wash at 60 degrees C, after every use.
Maskini are not medical grade face masks and have not been medically tested. Maskini does not protect you from contracting a virus. However, health experts recommend the use of cotton face masks so that you can help protect others from being infected by reducing the release of the Covid-19 virus into your surroundings.
We will ship your face masks after the funding phase is completed. Based on today April 20th) update by the postal service we expect delivery approx. by mid of May. Please follow our updates for any changes that may occur due to the current corona crisis.
Before ordering a "reward" please make sure that your country can still receive regular international parcel service shipments (excluding premium and similar). For "rewards" less than 10 pcs Face Masks, the shipment will be processed as "letter/document". If you order despite limited or no shipping services in your country, your shipment may be rejected and sent back to us. Please understand that we will not be able to refund your order, instead we will donate your entire order to people in need in Indonesia.

For supporting our project you will receive at least two face masks that will help you to protect other people’s lives! You also contribute towards saving families in Indonesia from severe poverty, by providing an additional income by producing masks. Your support also empowers us to be able to donate masks to the local Indonesian communities in need.

The funds from your contribution will be used to produce the masks and as a thank you, you will receive Maskini face masks. Your contribution will also fund the donation of face masks to local Indonesian communities. The tailors will produce the face masks from their homes, allowing them to preserve their incomes and their health.
