Charlotte Roustang

Deutschland / BERLIN

Charlotte Roustang was born in 1977 in Paris. After attending various theater classes and acting as a child and teenager, she went on to study business and management and specialized in Information and Communications Technology. Despite a promising debut by founding an internet start-up and as a senior consultant in the consulting firm Cap Gemini
Ernst & Young, her early passion caught up with her again in 2001: she started in Berlin as a production trainee to Philippe Bober at The Coproduction Office and then as director assistant to Carsten Ludwig on his first feature. After gaining some experience, she studied cinema at the University of Paris 8. She directed short movies, promotional films, music videos and documentaries (such as “Paris de Femmes” – a 52 min. piece for France 3). She also worked as an actress, camerawoman, director assistant and casting director. Apart from the cinema field, she organized several photographic exhibitions for the Paris City Hall, among others. In
Paris, she also founded Soleil Vert Production to produce her first short films, Collectif Prod, a collective for young filmmakers and, later on, the casting agency, The European Casting Studio, and the actors agency, Paris, Berlin Talent Management. She has been living in Berlin since 2009, where she shot her third short film, “The Saviour.” The film was released in festivals after being broadcast on Arte in 2015. Ich bin an Weihnachten allein in Berlin is her
first feature film.
