For almost two decades we have been making Berlin club history together with you. Now Watergate is on the brink of collapse. The Corona-related closure inevitably puts our business in a drastic financial hardship: 0€ income is offset by a 6-digit monthly cost for rent and salaries of our almost 100 staff members. In order to survive the crisis and re-open our doors, we urgently need your support.
Watergate has been around for 18 years, we have survived the Berlin club extinction until this day. But due to the Corona crisis we are facing imminent insolvency. Our club operations have been closed down completely, the agency is no longer generating revenues - nobody can tell us when things will return to normal. All costs for rents, utilities and common charges, credits, salaries etc. are still running. 0€ income is matched by approx. 130.000€ monthly costs. We cannot do this alone! In order to reopen our doors and survive the crisis, we urgently need your support!
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
In order to open the club again, we have to prevent insolvency. And to do so, we need financial support to be able to continue paying rents and salaries until the day we can finally resume business. The ones that can help us achieve this are you guys! Our guests and fans from Berlin and all over the world. As well as all artists, musicians and performers who call this place their home and play here regularly.
Why would you support this project?
For almost two decades, Watergate has been a formative part of Berlin's club culture. People and DJs from all over the world have celebrated, laughed and enjoyed countless nights and days with us. We have built bridges and transcended musical and social barriers. We have always worked hard to create a space for special encounters and experiences for our guests and artists, and we want to continue to do so. In addition to our existence, a relevant piece of Berlin's music, club culture and history is endangered too. Let's not allow our story to end here!
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
The money collected will be used exclusively to cover the rent of our club and office space in addition to the payment of salaries for our amazing team (almost 100 people!), who depend on us to make a living.
