"Urban Plants - Bio-Biografien" is an illustrated book with photographs of house plants and short texts that provide a humorous and poetic insight into the unique fates of urban plants. Out of about 1000 plants that we have presented to adoptive parents in our award-winning long-term project botanoadopt®, 100 of them illustrate the cosmos of a new view of plants. The book also contains introductory texts by authors from the fields of philosophy, art, biology, literature and sociology (including Christoph Wilhelm Aigner, Christian Kaufmann and Sue Spaid).
(Format 17x24cm, thread stitching, 4-coloured, approx. 288 pages, German, edition of 500)
First of all, the book shows artistic photographs of plants and is aimed at plant lovers and photo art enthusiasts. The humorous poetic biographies of the plants are aimed at readers who love poetic stories. The well-designed and high-quality book is also aimed at all those who are looking for models for a sustainable society.
For all those who see more as decoration in plants and always wanted to know what is really hidden behind the leaf veins.
The illustrated book is a jewel of photographic art and language; high-quality produced and designed. The book is also an artistic plea for a new perspective on plants. It contains the essence of our artistic utopia, which we have been realizing since 2009 with botanoadopt® and the Pflanzenklappe® (plants hatch) by defining plants as individuals, saving them and procure them to adoptive parents. The illustrated book is the culmination of the 10-year-long work of our long-term project botanoadopt®.
If the financing is successful, the money will be used to cover the printing costs, the financing of the rewards and the fee for StartNext.
Behind the project are Haike Rausch and Torsten Grosch, known as artist duo 431art from Frankfurt/Main. We are the inventors of the Pflanzenklappe® (plants hatch) and the founder of botanoadopt®. In addition to the mediation of plants we realize numerous artistic projects, we are speakers at international conferences, curate temporary exhibitions, work as communication designers and realize 1 - 2 times a year multimedia educational projects. 2017 botanoadopt® was active in the Netherlands for 2 weeks. For the 10th anniversary of botanoadopt® 2019, the illustrated book "Urban Plants - Bio-Biographies" will be published and an exhibition is planned.
