NICAMNOR project’s is out to save the last population of the Nigerian-Cameron Chimpanzee in the North-West region of Cameroon by studying their behavior from research.
This chimpanzee sub-species is Africa’s rarest and most threatened primate but their true numbers and behaviour is unknown.
They are still hunted for bush meat, their body parts are sold for traditional medicine and their habitat are destroyed.

The goal of this project is to study the behavior of the Nigeria- Cameroon Chimpanzee to better understand their habitat needs and food requirements in the North-West Region of Cameroon. This will be done by especially by:
1. Estimating the true numbers of the Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzees in the study area
2. Investigating what the Nigeria-Cameroon Chimpanzee eat and were they live in both areas
