The most colourful way to care for the earth, your skin & mind.
BINU [비누] means soap,
BINUYO [비누요] means "It is soap" in the Korean language.
So if you ask “what is this?” to my soap, the answer “BINUYO” is a brand name
and at the same time also can be “It is soap” in Korean language.
As an artisanal experiment, BINUYO brings art to day-to-day commodities.
All soaps are made by hand in the traditional cold process method with a blend of high quality plant-based oil (vegan) and also coloured & scented by all-natural ingredients.
Here, I ask you to support me to build an online store.
For that I prepared small gifts

BINUYO wants to go online to meet more people
I started this project last year. It was a hobby in the first place, then I gave some of the soaps I produced to my friends and they loved it, so I started to sell them in flea markets.
While I was practicing myself I wanted to develop my skills. So I went to Korea to take an intensive course for ‘the master of design soap’ and after that, my recipe and skills were more refined.
I was ready to start bold this year.
I found a company in the end of January and prepared to sell them in flea markets, design markets, and stores. But now as you know, due to COVID-19, all of the opportunities are blurred. So I thought it’s about time to build my online store.
My target group could be
People who like lovely soap
People who admire beautiful colours & scents from nature
People who are aware of sustainable lifestyles
People who want to support handmade local products
People who want to give a small gift to themselves or who they care about
People who want to add some colours to daily life in this dark quarantine time
0. It’s beautiful
As you see :)
1. It’s good for your skin
These products are not only beautiful, but guarantee a pleasant using experience.
The recipes are based on a professional soaping certificate from South Korea.
All soaps are made with a mix of high quality coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, caster oil, rice bran oil.
Since I don’t use palm oil, I add shea butter and cocoa butter to make the soap keep a hard form. It helps to maintain moisture level on your skin even with Berlin's harsh water.
And the bubble bag that I give you with the soap this time will make fine foam so you can be more satisfied.
2. It’s good for your mind
Giving a bar of soap as a gift may have once been interpreted as meaning ‘you don’t smell good so you need to wash’.
But in this quarantine time, many people might feel depressed and bored. Having a beautiful soap in your bathroom could cheer you up in the morning and night. And washing your hands thoroughly with soap is considered an easy way to prevent infection.
3. It’s good for the earth
In the United States alone, more than 552 million shampoo bottles have ended up in landfills in 2018. If you count hand and facial soap, it’s way more than that.
If you use soap and shampoo bars, It will definitely minimize the quantity of your bathroom products and we can save tons of plastic waste.
Also, it’s free of microplastics, plastic packaging, palm oil, silicones, parabens, sulfates, preservatives, and animal experiments.
It will be used for the whole process of building a BINUYO online store.
This means cost for homepage set up, photo shooting, package, legal advice, resistor for cosmetic portal, etc.
And most importantly, since the best soap quality requires 4-6 weeks cure time, It will also be used for soap production and for the development of various recipes with best ingredients.
I aim to open a homepage around May.
All supporters can choose to get a reward as a gift ASAP,
or as a voucher when the shop is opened.
I’m Hanna Kang, a brand designer and founder of BINUYO.
I am from Seoul, South Korea and have been living in Berlin since 2016.
After moving to Berlin, my life has changed a lot.
One of the biggest things was the definition of “work”.
In the past, “work” meant to me being hired somewhere and working for them and getting a salary. But now, it’s about how I influence the world with my actions using my talents, time, and energy.
While I like making beautiful things, I want to keep creating something beautiful and useful and less harmful, and make people happy with that, and I want to make a living with that “work”.
Now I call myself a “soaper” or a “soapist”. It’s my new job.
I do my work to connect with the outside world and try to feel less lonely.
I’m making soap but it’s also one of the answers to how I can be nice to myself and to the world.
Thank you :)
