Crowdfunding since 2010
The card game „Stimmvieh“ ironically addresses a German election campaign. While all parties are bidding for votes and for realizing their election platforms, often the real issue is fundraising through donations and public refunds. Supporters can vote for campaign slogans and for who the campaign donators will be. Besides, up to 36 supporters can become politicians by placing their portrait onto a card, the back of the box or even its title. The gameplay is language independent.

Parteispenden - Donations to parties

Why are there party donations in Stimmvieh?

Financial support for parties is internationally dealt with quite differently. German law allows individual and corporate bodies (companies, associations) to donate money to political parties. Parties must register single donations above 50,000 €; these are published by the Federal Parliament (Bundestag).

In 2013 31 such donations with a total of 3,774,274.95 € were registered. One donation each went to the green party (Bündnis90/Die Grünen) and the MLPD, the Marxist Leninist Party of Germany. The Labour Party (SPD) received five, the liberal party (FDP, in the government till autumn) nine, the governing conservative party (CDU) 13 and their Bavarian sister party CSU two large donations. The left party (Die Linke) who was also elected to the Parliament did not register any large donations.

The largest individual donation was given to the Bavarian Conservative party after the general election in October 2013. They received 565,000 € from the Organisation of the Bavarian Metalworking and Electrical Industries (VBM). By the way 1/6 of the large donations went to the opposition, the juge rest was given to those in the federal government till autumn.

Honi soit qui mal y pense. However, some still do obviously. On the German site "Watch your MP" (Abgeordnetenwatch) there's currently a petition for forbidding donations by corporate bodies and for limiting those by individuals. (see link).

Let's hope that this does not become true until Stimmvieh will have been published ;-) For this, we need a few more fans (Hint, hint!)
