This what we need to cover the basic production costs, mostly travel expenses, rehearsal fees and lodging for the international cast.
Since the discovery of the Cello Suites in 1890 by the catalan Pablo Casals, Bach’s music was often used as an intermediary to share political messages for peace. Therefore, with the piece „La Dernière Sarabande“ Juliette Rahon & Co want to use Bach’s music as a spokesperson for the environment and wishes to invite the audience to a performance made of poetry and brutal pictures .
As we all know, climate change has become dramatic and it is not anymore a „hippy behavior“ or an old-fashioned political idea. Therefore our Ensemble decided to question what we can do not only as artists, but as world citizens in order to take care of our planet. Are people really aware of the situation? Are the individual efforts really useful for this global challenge? Can we do anything to make politicians and industries responsible and really involved with this challenge?
Firstly the goal of this project is to question ourselves, to research and analyze what can we do or undo, and is not focused on lecturing the audience. In „La Dernière Sarabande“ Juliette Rahon wants to gather an interdisciplinary team of freelancers and theater artists mostly based in Germany. The challenge is to create a pieces in Leipzig, with local artists (dramaturgy, staging, costumes created by local artists) and fair-trade materials, i.e. using as little pollutant equipment as possible and catering made by local agriculture.
Secondly the aim of this project is to create unique variations of Bach’s full sixth Cello Suite, by combining two cellist playing at the same time, one soprano singer and four dancers.
Juliette Rahon & Co is an Interdisciplinary ensemble made of almost only freelancers artists, which suffers from the recent crisis. Your help will therefore contribute to stopping the self-exploitation of freelancers artists.
Furthermore this project concerns every world citizens, and has the desire through art to make this world a better place to live in .
