A short movie about a middle-aged painter who has a stroke and becomes partly disabled and cannot paint anymore. Then a young woman, a former art model, helps him with some daily tasks. She inspires him to start working again in some way.
In part inspired by the "corona" lockdown, which affected the lives of artists worldwide, we wanted to make a film about the persistence of art in midst of extreme difficulties. So we had the idea of showing the life of a painter who cannot create anymore. It seemed to us a moving story that not only talks about important issues such as disability, depression and the importance of human contact, but also serves as a metaphor for our current complicated times.
Was sind die Ziele und wer ist die Zielgruppe?
The goal of the project is to help fund the short film "Wintermärchen" or "A Winter's Tale". The finished film will last about 15 min, it will be filmed in February 2021 and post-production will take place during spring. After it is ready it should be shown in festivals worldwide. The film is basically self-funded so far. We received a small grant of 2,000 euros from the Saxony Denkzeit program for the script, but we do not have any other funding for the actual production. We do however have equipment and crew assistance from the Chemnitzer Filmwerkstatt.
Warum sollte jemand dieses Projekt unterstützen?
You will be helping to tell a wonderful story about art, friendship and redemption and you will be among the first to watch the finished movie. You will help to raise awareness about the difficulties faced by stroke survivors and directly help them with a small donation. You will be assisting in the development of art and culture in the city of Chemnitz, future European Capital of Culture in 2025. You will be making sure that art and culture continue even during this difficult period of the lockdown.
Was passiert mit dem Geld bei erfolgreicher Finanzierung?
It will be used to help cover production expenses (food, transportation, equipment, props, costumes, etc), in order to make it easier to conclude this production. We need to pay the artist creating the actual paintings for the movie as well. Also 10% will be donated to the charity Deutsche Schlangfall Hilfe (https://www.schlaganfall-hilfe.de/) that helps stroke survivors.
