maria del mar marais: THEATERPÄDAGOGIN / DRAMA TEACHER
Maria del Mar Marais, geboren 1989 in Brighton, Großbritannien. Mitglied der Theatergruppe Sceniklan seit 2005. Theateraustauschprojekte in Köln, Birmingham und Oldenburg. Theaterpädagogin bei “Interactive tour of Approach to Performing Arts”, 2006, eine Initiative, die Theaterthemen und jeweils ein kleines Stück mit Grundschülern in katalonischen Dörfern behandelt. Bachelor in Zahnmedizin an der Universität Barcelona, 2013. Freiwillige Arbeit in medizinischen Versorgungszentren in Paraguay und der Syian Medical Asociation in Reyhanli, Türkei.
""When I was a little girl my grandmother put me into theatre classes every summer to try to get rid of my extreme shyness. As I grew older I realized how much I enjoyed them and how much they helped me develop into the person I am now. Years later my theatre group got a scholarship to travel around Spain to give classes to kids who live in small villages and don´t have access to theater in their day to day life. From this time I got my passion, ideas and experience of working with kids. For me, the relationship that a theater group creates between it´s members is unique like no other, it´s a type of fraternity.
In Reyhanli, I will be volunteering in a hospital for Syrian Refugees as well as helping in this project. Hopefully we´ll be able to give the children a space for expression, for having fun, for gaining self-confidence, for getting to know oneself and for forgetting for some hours whatever sadness this war could bring them."
